Detroit Institute of Arts Hours

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) has the following hours of operation:

  • Monday: Closed

  • Tuesday-Thursday: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Friday: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

  • Saturday-Sunday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Parking at Detroit Institute of Arts

When visiting the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), you have several parking options available:

  1. Museum Parking Lot: The daily parking rate for the museum's own lot is $7.

  2. Street Parking: On-street parking is available, but there is a maximum stay of two hours. Be sure to adhere to the posted parking regulations.

  3. Wayne State University Parking: You can find parking at Wayne State University on Putnam St., just west of Woodward Ave.


The Detroit Institute of Arts has the following admission prices:

  • Adults: $18.00

  • Senior or College Student (with valid ID): $10.00

  • Youth (6-17): $8.00

  • Children (5 and under): Free


Kresge Court:

  • Menu includes sandwiches, soup, salad, shareable small plates, and charcuterie.

  • Beverage service featuring all-day coffee, espresso drinks, natural teas, wine, and beer.

  • Tuesday – Thursday: 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

  • Friday: 9 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

  • Saturday – Sunday: 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Café DIA:

  • Cafeteria-style dining.

  • Offers soup or chili, a grab & go bar, traditional grill favorites, and pizza.

  • Tuesday – Thursday: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • Friday: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 4 – 6 p.m.

  • Saturday – Sunday: 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.


The DIA Shop is a convenient place for visitors to explore a range of items, including books, apparel, souvenirs, and art-related products. It is open daily until 30 minutes after the museum closes, allowing you to browse and purchase these items during your visit to the Detroit Institute of Arts.
